Guest Ranch Family Retreats
Light Rider Foundation provides renewal experiences for families of First Responders and Active-Service Military or Veterans. The goal is to allow the family to enjoy an environment with a broad set of activities away from the stresses of everyday life that can be used to strengthen and expand their family bonds and be an experience they will always remember.
Our Program currently includes trips to Latigo Ranch in the Colorado high country near Kremmling, Colorado. Summer visits are six nights of comfortable accommodations with days filled with opportunities for horseback riding, herding cattle, hiking, swimming, fishing, rafting, rock climbing, riding e-bikes, shooting, billiards, ping pong, foosball, board games, piano playing, hot tub soaking and, of course, just relaxing with a good book or taking in the scenery.
Winter experiences are 2 to 4 nights (Thursday to Monday) with daytime cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, plus all the indoor fun available in the summer.
We want our Families to have a spectacular experience; and that does not happen without spectacular food. Be sure to check out Latigo’s Cuisine.
How We Find Our Families
During our current start-up phase, we are identifying candidate families by partnering with organizations that support the First Responder and Military/Veteran communities, as well as contacts through our donors and Latigo patrons.
What We Provide for Our Families
Light Rider Foundation covers the cost of an all-inclusive summer or winter Latigo Ranch vacation for immediate family members. For winter visits, the cost of rental equipment at Latigo and trail fees are also covered.
Airfare, ground transportation, purchases from the Latigo gift shop, and purchases of beer and wine are the responsibility of each family.
Please Contact Us if you have any questions or wish to nominate a family.
Light Rider Foundation serves in an organizational capacity with coordinating visits for nominated families at Latigo Ranch. Visits to Latigo Ranch are for the purpose of engaging with family and taking a break from the tasks of daily life; the visits are not a substitute for therapy or any other type of support necessary for mental and physical health.
